COMMON QUESTIONS

Image to Base64: useful answers

Does Base64 make an image smaller?

No. Base64 usually adds about one third to the byte count, plus the data URL prefix. Use ordinary image files for larger assets.

Does encoding change the original image quality?

No. This tool encodes the selected file bytes. It does not resize or re-compress the image.
